Featured Profile of Ms. Tebogo Malaka the Chief Executive Officer of the
Independent Development Trust (IDT)
Ms. Tebogo Malaka is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Development Trust (IDT) an entity of the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and also holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from MANCOSA, she graduated in 2016. In the same year she obtained a Short Course in Public, Private Partnerships in Infrastructure from the University of Queensland in Australia.
Ms. Malaka is a seasoned professional having amassed 27 years of experience working in both public and private sectors, with 15 years in Executive Management and Leadership. Ms. Malaka started her career in the Department of Social Development as a Programme Manager responsible for Community Development, later worked for the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry where she held various positions and was later appointed as Director between 2006 – 2009. As the Acting CEO of the IDT Ms. Malaka preside over a R6 billion portfolio which amongst other include construction of public buildings like schools, courts and community health centres.
She is a members of the following Boards, North West Development Corporation, Magalies Water, a Trustee of Mmutla wa Noko Trust and was a Non-Executive Director of the Board of Sentech until April 20221, she was also appointed by the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure as Board member and Chairperson of the IDT Board of Trustees until she was appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the IDT in November
2021.
Ms. Malaka has participated in various international conferences and study tours in various countries, such as Broadcast Asia Conference in Singapore, IBC Conference in Amsterdam, WEDC conference in Sri Lanka and she was part of study to Denmark on the Integrated Water Resource Management Programme and also attended World Water Week in Stockholm accompanying the then Minister of Water Affairs and Forestry.
